Grumpy CatYou knocked the wind from me.
I saw the apple fall,
Hitting the ground,
with no sound at all.

The shrivel. The shrivel

The fruit can no longer grow.
The fruit will no longer grow.

I try to understand,
try to comprehend,
watching the apple tree.
It sways in the wind.

That wind.
That wind from the past.
It’s long gone like my breath.
I can’t breathe.

The hit. It hit.
Such ferocity.
No catching or stopping,
just take a breath.

I’ll wait. I’ll wait.
Air in the lungs,
Hit the ground.

We’ll both be done.
